Integration of Nutrition with other programs


Nutrition programmes are additionally integrated within other departments anddivisions such as Division of Health Promotion, National AIDSControl Program, TB/Leprosy program, Division of Non- Communicable Diseases and Community Health and Development Unit. There is significant effort to enhance collaboration across other line ministries to further enhance provision of nutrition services through other critical contact points acknowledging that the interventions of other ministries have a bearing on nutrition outcomes in relation to their interaction with the population. The Nutrition and Dietetics Unit works with other relevant line ministries on programs in those ministries that have direct impact on Nutrition. This includes;

  • Development and dissemination of policies, guidelines, standards, legislations and regulations
  • Coordination of Nutrition stakeholders and actors implementing related actions
  • Capacity strengthening and technical support to counties for nutrition service delivery
  • Resource mobilization and related advocacy for implementation of nutrition priorities
  • Strengthen application of disaster risk reduction initiatives / frameworks and ensure timely, cohesive Emergency nutrition response
  • Management of Nutrition Information Systems for example management of routine data, assessments, and surveys
