Introduction
Division of Family Health was established in 2008 due to the felt need of enhancing the coordination of Maternal Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition, for more efficient service delivery. The Division is located on the KNH grounds and consists of 6 technical units
- Reproductive, Maternal health services unit
- Neonatal Child and Adolescent Health unit
- Nutrition and dietetic unit
- National vaccines and Immunization unit
- Health promotion Unit
- Community health services unit
The Department is in charge of two main MDGs; MDG 4 on reduction of child mortality and MDG 5 on reduction of maternal mortality. It plays a big role in the implementation of MDG 1 on Reducing of poverty and eliminating hunger through the nutrition programme. The Department also contributes to all the other 8 MDGs.
